Thomas Spear co-founder and CEO of Property Management Associates, a Los Angeles based real estate company focused on property management, has in excess of 30 years experience in commercial and residential real estate. Spear oversees the operations of over 175 commercial real estate assets in the Southern California area valued in excess of $1.5 billion. He is responsible for the asset management, marketing, operations, performance, staffing, and construction for the properties within this portfolio.
In 2000 Spear and his partner, Joshua Fein, entered into a relationship with Asset Management Consultants (AMC) (www.amcinvestments.com), a Southern California based real estate investment company. Spear and Fein’s partnership responsibilities include; investment underwriting, due diligence, asset management and property management for this investment portfolio. Since inception, the partnership has acquired in excess of 4 million square feet of commercial properties and currently maintains a 2.8 million square feet portfolio of commercial properties in California and Texas.
Together with Luma Corp (www.lumacorp.com) in Texas, Spear and Fein have assembled a portfolio of multi-family residential properties in the greater Dallas area. Spear and Fein have also acquired and operate both residential and commercial properties in Southern California on their own behalf. Finally, through Property Management Associates of Florida, Spear and Fein work with South Coast Partners (www.southcp.com) group of companies on the acquisition, repositioning and resale of various multi-family projects in Florida.
Prior to founding Property Management Associates, Spear was the West Coast Managing Partner for Tishman Midwest Management and Leasing Services Company. In that capacity Spear was responsible for all day-to-day operations of a commercial real estate portfolio valued in excess of $1.5 billion, as well as regional management of the corporation.
Spear was also associated with VMS Realty Partners as their Vice President and Regional Manager. His responsibilities included management and marketing of over 13 million square feet of commercial and retail properties located in the Western States from Denver to Hawaii and valued in excess of $2.5 billion. His responsibilities included, major retrofitting and repositioning of properties and transactions for both purchase and sale by VMS.
Prior to VMS Realty Partners, Spear was President of TSC Properties, Inc. of Los Angeles California (currently Colliers International). As President, Spear was responsible for operations of in-house syndications and partnerships, fee-managed portfolio, as well as the profitability of TSC, Properties, Inc.
Prior to TSC Properties, Inc., Spear founded and sold real estate companies in Beverly Hills and Leucadia, California.
Spear has been a Board Member of the Los Angeles Business Council. He has served the community through his affiliations with the School on Wheels, United Way of Orange County, Hillcrest Boys Home, Town Hall, and Task Force for the Assessment of Abused Children, and Southern California College Group Counseling for Troubled Teens.
Spear graduated with honors from California State University at Fullerton with a degree in economics and political theory. Spear holds a California Real estate Broker’s license and is a Superior and Federal Court Receiver.
